Poverty and Government Programs
All government programs require funding through taxation. While noble in intent, many welfare programs ironically exacerbate poverty. Taxation removes money from the economy, money that would've funded businesses and created jobs. Welfare programs have created multi-generational communities dependent upon a government dole. Subsidies have encouraged detrimental behaviors such as single motherhood, destroying the family, the basic unit of any functioning society.
These Great Society programs were touted as an investment to end poverty. Can anyone candidly say those lofty goals were achieved?
