The pardon was the broadest in US history. It didn't just pardon Hunter Biden of his convictions, it pardoned him of any potential crime between 2014 to 2024. Coincidentally, this is the year Joe Biden became head of American-Ukraine relations during the Obama presidency, followed by Hunter Biden being given a seat on the board of Burisma Holdings Limited, a Ukrainian energy company.
Hunter Biden was pardoned of theoretical crimes. "No one is above the law" was regurgitated often when Donald Trump was tried by a judge that donated to Biden's 2020 campaign. Republicans, Democrats, Independents condemned President Biden's pardon process, marking it a big slap in the face to the nation.
In addition, a brief order by U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi also accused the president of maligning law enforcement and the justice system in his rationale for issuing the clemency. Judge Scarsi even claimed that part of the pardon may be unconstitutional.
